How to sell items on internet?

Well, you have just bought a new PC and you want to sell your old one, or maybe, you have a few good books lying around that you want to sell to a book lover or exchange them for some of his. Whatever may be the case, do not worry, a powerful medium to sell your stuff is at your disposal - the good ol' internet. Yes, as the internet is spreading, selling or buying stuff is becoming easier. Though, in this post I am going to comment on just selling, but where items are sold, you can also buy them there, can't you? ;)

The best site for selling your items in my opinion is
www.click.in. The site is extremely effective and very easy to use.You just need a valid email id to get started.(Yes,no signin!) You select your state, city and category. Then you select the buying/selling option, fill out a few details and submit a valid email ID. A link is sent to your email ID after that and once you click it, whoa, your ad is activated! Posting ads is absolutely free and you may post any number of ads you want. There are also n number of categories provided for you like Housing,For Sale,Services & Classes and Jobs to choose from.

The second site is www.olx.in Everything remains same here, except that clic-your-email-your-ad-is-activated model is not followed. Though you are sent a link in your email, it can be used to edit/delete your listing. The site generates a very good responce within a few days of posting and is highly recommended.

The third site is www.kijiji.in With a very intuitive and user friendly UI, this site is just breeze to use. The classified submission form is easiest of all and an AD can be placed under a minute if you have a valid email ID. A word of caution though, you get automated spam messages for your ads from kijiji.in, watch for them.

The fourth site is www.ebay.in. The site is an indian version of vastly popular ebay.com. Though, the site is well known and everything under the sun is sold/bought here, a note of caution, please read the terms and conditions before posting your listing. You will have to pay ebay.in to list your item even if your listing ends and your item is unsold. Many users are unaware of this and get a shock when pesky emails from ebay.in start pouring in demanding money. Also, there are a lot of fraud buyers out there, so be careful.

If you are selling computer parts and hardware, you can also visit www.techenclave.com/forums/market and http://www.thinkdigit.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=56. Although not really classified sites, these are buy/sell forums of their respective sites and can quickly get you responces. But be aware that, the people here are tech savvy and very much aware of current prices, so be prepared to get a little less than other sites.

www.techtree.com is also a good site to sell your stuff. www.whereincity.com is another one. Though this site has a good UI, only limited No. of ADs can be seen currently.

Sites to avoid :www.indiaclassifieds.com - Need of registration to place ads, Complicated and unfriendly UI.www.indialist.com - The site has a terrible classified submission form. I was unable to post an AD despite trying hard for about 10 minutes.www.adpost.com - Need of registration to place ads.www.indiabook.com - clumsy, unprofessional UI.www.classifieds.byindia.com - cluttered UI,difficult to find information.

Selling on all these sites(except ebay.in - as told) is free. When selling your item, placing ADs on all these sites is recommended. Don't give your email IDs, phone numbers though, they can be misused. All these sites have built in facilites for senders to contact you, you can contact the buyer yourself once you are convinced that he/she can be a prospective buyer.

And please always remember, whatever you buy/sell, don't become a part of consumerism cycle, when you buy something make sure you need it absolutely and are going to use it. As they always say, 'Mother earth can satisfy our need, but not our greed !'

Happy selling !

First post of my blog. Wow !

This is the first post of my blog and I must say my heart is filled with happiness and joy. Starting a blog was in my mind from long back and seeing this wish come true is really a wonderful thing to experience.

Well, that's very fine, but you may have this question' Why ? And what are you going to write in it?'
Well, my answer to the first question is same as all other bloggers, 'why not?'. Well seriously, writing is one of my most favourate hobbies and I seriously think that I have my own views on everything, so not make them public? Also, I think I am very good at suggestions that I use myself and want people to benefit from.

So, in short, read this blog, it's going to do you a lot of good ! ;)
Bye and take care,
Abhijeet.
